Cyber Laws

Cyber law is a term that refers to the legal matters related to use of the Internet. This bough of law provides legal recognition to electronic documents and a framework to support e-filing and e-commerce transactions and also provides a legal framework to mitigate/check cyber crimes. In today's highly digitalized world, almost everyone is a subject of cyber law as more or less all companies extensively depend upon their computer networks and keep their valuable data in electronic form. Government forms including income tax returns, company law forms etc are now filled in electronically. Consumers are increasingly using credit cards for shopping. Most people are using email, cell phones and SMS messages for communication. Cyber crime cases such as online banking frauds, online share trading fraud, source code theft, credit card fraud, tax evasion, virus attacks, cyber sabotage, email hijacking, denial of service, hacking, pornography etc are becoming common. Digital signatures and e-contracts are fast replacing conventional methods of transacting business.

The International Judicial Conference 2012 will provide a forum to discuss and share international and national best practices to combat cyber crimes and to review cyber related legislations.
